I went on a guided tour to Ayers Rock or Uluru as the Aborigines call it and also got to see The Olgas, also called Kata Tjuta and learned how they and Ayers Rock were formed. The tour included some guided walks where we were told some tall tales about giant snakes fighting and some massive lump of rock is the poor snake that lost the fight and a tear in some other even bigger rock represents the wound the other snake was left with.

There was also a lot of really interesting stuff like how the Aborigines lived and hunted and that they eat everything that didn't kill them. How did they know if it was safe to eat? Just feed it to the oldest member of the tribe and.....you can guess the rest. One more interesting thing, during dry periods they got their water by simply swallowing bloated frogs whole. Finally we had a barbecue at sunset by the rock. On the trip back to Alice during the night I saw loads of kangaroos hopping around, couldn't see any in the morning on the way over cause they were hiding from the sun.
