Hong Kong

Flew into Hong Kong with Dragonair. As if the city weren't mad enough as it is, people here go nuts over Halloween. From the day I arrived there were people going around dressed up, often in big groups and with the craziest costumes. And on Halloween itself they just went over the top.

The city as we all know offers some stunning views with amazing skylines. I stayed in Tsim Sha Tsui, Kowloon and not for from the completely run down building called Mirador Mansion where you can find my hostel on the 13th floor, there is the harbor area from where there is a stunning view of the Hong Kong island. At eight o'clock every night there is a laser show during which all the major buildings on Hong Kong island are introduced and get the chance to present themselves to the crowds of tourists. I also went over by ferry and under the water by subway to see the Hong Kong island from where there is of course a good view of Kowloon. Took the Peak Tram up to Victoria Peak to get the view from the top. It's interesting to see the contrast between the modern capitalist buildings and the overgrown jungle surrounding it. There actually isn't too much here apart from great views, shopping and crazy night life. I would strongly recommend Lan Kwai Fong for a good night out.
