2 day ferry trip in the Pacific

Spent 2 days crossing over from China to Japan on a lovely passenger ferry. To my pleasant surprise and quite to the contrary of what I had read about this ferry trip, there were quite a few western people on board. That meant of course that I could have proper chats with people rather than trying to talk to them for quite a while and not actually saying anything, like on my train trip across China.

Anyway, there were quite a number of things to do on board like play table tennis, watch fairly recent movies in English or go for a Japanese bath. There was also a lot to see, either from deck or out the large window next to my Japanese style bed and there is nothing quite like waking up to a stunning view. Anyway, we first cruised up the canal out of Shanghai which is also one of the things to do in Shanghai, only on a little tourist boat. When we first got to Japan, still a long way away from our destination, we passed many of the country's wonderful islands with some of them being so close to each other that they were connected by massive bridges which the boat then had to pass under. A little strange.
