Greetings from China! Got to Nanning yesterday evening and tried to catch a train or bus or anything to Shanghai. The bus station I arrived at had no service to Shanghai until two days later so I wanted to go to the train station hoping I could get there earlier. While asking about the tickets at the information desk a Chinese guy (see picture) the same age as myself came over to help with the bit of English he had. He said the trains in China are cheaper anyway and that he would take me to the train station where he helped my buy my ticket. The earliest train leaves tonight which meant I'd have to stay the night in Nanning and the Chinese guy showed me a row of hotels by the station. I asked him if he knew any cheap hotels but he said they would be very dirty and I should stay with him. As if that wasn't enough he insisted on buying me dinner and wouldn't let me buy him breakfast the following morning. And finally, before he had to leave he said I'd need food for the train and took me to a supermarket. He even told me what I should buy and that was a good thing cause I had no idea what most of the stuff was.

With my spare time I had a look around the city centre. On my way there I went through a beautiful and peaceful park and crossed a massive bridge over a wide river that people were swimming in. The city centre was bright and clean and there was a really nice atmosphere all over. It was a pity having to leave there so soon.
