Arrived in Hanoi well before sunrise and got the usual reception from hotel people telling us how wonderful their rooms were. We offered to stay in one guy's guest house if he took us there for free. He said no, we walked away and he followed us shortly after and agreed to our offer. On the way into the city which was quite a bit away, we saw a guy transport a dead pig on a moped. The pig was on it's back in the foot space and due to it's size it was hanging out rather far at both sides. We booked into the hotel for the following night.

Marius had to meet up with a lady his father knew from work and she insisted on taking us all out for evening dinner by one of the lakes. She picked us up from our hotel with her son and two members of her staff, each of them on a moped so the four of us each got on the back of one of the mopeds and we headed of through Hanoi until we got to the restaurant. That's where I had the weirdest food ever and I believe I've made my mother proud. I had eel soup, escargot, squid, snakehead fish, frogs legs and king shrimps! And I have to admit it was actually very good.
