Sabaydee, that's the general greeting here. Vang Vieng is basically one main road off which many little roads lead down to the river. To the other side of the river there is a row of stunning mountains. Did a tube ride down that very river with Joel and a bunch of crazy lads from all over the world yesterday. You just sit in a tube and the current takes you down, you can stop off at on any or all of the bars on the way and most of them also have some sort of swing or diving point. The best was this swing where you'd start from the top of a tree, swing down over the river with your feet hitting the water and then just leave go at the highest point on the other side. A real Tarzan feeling.

We got mountain bikes and headed for the caves the following day. The first cave was prepared for tourism with paths and lights inside, the second one was pitch dark and one needed to climb rather than walk a lot of the time. But the second one did have a Buddha inside! Both caves we visited each had a fantastic lagoon at the foot of the mountain the cave was in.
